AMERICA THE POSSIBLE: WHY, WHAT, AND WHO
-
The survival of American Democracy—or, if you prefer, Representative Democracy or Democratic Republic—depends on our citizens being both informed and engaged. So said Thomas Jefferson. At the moment, we are neither. Americans are civically illiterate and alarmingly disengaged (See the Annenberg Public Policy Center’s annual Civics Knowledge Survey, University of Pennsylvania).
Not your fault. Deleting Civics and American History from the curriculum was a catastrophic mistake. 70% of Americans couldn’t pass the multiple-choice test that immigrants have to take to become citizens.
Most of us don’t even bother to vote––not even in presidential elections.
And, most horrifying of all, only 39% of Millennials and Genzers believe that living in a democracy is essential.
-
At America The Possible, we think it’s important that We The People know what’s going on. And that’s why we regularly post essential facts about how America works one simple, tiny MicroByte at a time.
We are religiously non-partisan and solely in the business of selling the American Idea to Americans. An idea akin to The Federalist papers, written, produced, and published by Messrs Hamilton, Madison, and Jay who we fondly think of as America’s first advertising agency.
We’re convinced that once Americans know how America works, and how critical their role is, they’ll decide to get off the sidelines and into the game.
Now, here’s what you can do: You're aware, you know the game, and you have an opinion––get hold of your elected officials––by email, by cell phone, by carrier pigeon––and let them know in no uncertain terms, what you think. Since their primary interest in life is getting re-elected, we guarantee they’ll listen.

Martin Puris
Here’s the short version: My name is Martin Puris and after a life in the advertising business, I very recently founded America The Possible because I believe that, with all its problems and shortcomings, the Idea of America is, as Abraham Lincoln once said, still “The last, best hope of earth.” I'm also concerned that it’s in clear and present danger.
Additionally, as we grow, we will continue to enlist talent from all the essential communications disciplines. And here’s the good news, early indications tell us that we won’t have any difficulty attracting the best, the brightest, and the most committed.
I find it extremely embarrassing to toot one's own horn, but if you’re interested in more information here’s what’s been written:
Mr. Puris, a copywriter by trade, co-founded one of America’s most esteemed and effective advertising agencies, Ammirati&Puris––an agency that grew to more than 10 billion dollars in billing, with 172 offices in 54 countries, and more than 10,000 employees.
Ammirati&Puris created advertising communications for some of the best and the brightest clients in the world: Like BMW (The Ultimate Driving Machine), UPS (The Tightest Ship In The Shipping Business), Club Med (The Antidote For Civilization), Sony, Compaq Computers, Schweppes, Aetna, Burger King. Four Seasons Hotels. And dozens more.
Mr,. Puris has lectured at NYU, University of Chicago, Columbia Business School Alumni) and has been a contributor to various publications including the Harvard Business Review. Mr Puris has been honored and awarded internationally on numerous occasions by industry peers. And was named by AdWeek Magazine, “One of the twenty most influential figures in advertising during the past 20 years.”
He has served as a director of several not-for-profit boards including the ASPCA, The Mystic Seaport Museum, Sheltering Arms and The Hampton Classic.
He has also served as Media Advisor to a Republican, President George H. W. Bush. He was also on the Finance Committee of a Democrat, Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan.
Mr Puris has been inducted into the Creative Hall of Fame.

If it’s okay with you, we’d like to keep our friends updated on what we’re doing and what we’re working on. We’ve begun our Store with the expected––T-shirts, hats, and sweatshirts. They’re really pretty cool. (And, of course, they’ll be totally Made in America––no hidden “Made in China” tags)
But, in the not-too-distant future, we’ll be offering a variety of America The Possible collectibles. We’re exploring the unexpected––all sorts of useful and entertaining objects and content––things like sets of simplified and fun civics and American History teaching tools for children––BTW, not a bad refresher for adults.
They're not quite ready for prime time yet––frankly, we’re a bit overwhelmed by the response! Stay tuned, lots more to come!m description
